Version 8, or Version 7 tape <strong>for</strong>mat. The <strong>SAS</strong> System 9, Version 8, and Version 7<br />

V6TAPE | V6SEQ<br />

specifies the engine <strong>for</strong> accessing sequential <strong>SAS</strong> data libraries in Version 6 tape<br />

<strong>for</strong>mat.<br />

Details<br />

The SEQENGINE= system option specifies the engine that <strong>SAS</strong> will use to access an<br />

existing sequential <strong>for</strong>mat data library when an engine name is not explicitly stated in<br />

the LIBNAME statement or LIBNAME function.<br />

SET= ’environment-variable value’<br />

environment-variable<br />

specifies the environment variable to define.<br />

value<br />

specifies the environment variable value. Note that quotation marks are required<br />

around the entire environment-variable value string.<br />

Details<br />

You can use the SET= system option to define an environment variable that is valid<br />

within the <strong>SAS</strong> session. For example, you can use the SET= option to make<br />

environment variables available to turn on support <strong>for</strong> various utility functions.<br />

<strong>SAS</strong>/CONNECT software uses environment variables to turn on debug tracing<br />

capabilities, among other things.<br />

You can define one environment variable at a time with the SET= option. The<br />

environment-variable value takes precedence over any corresponding values except <strong>for</strong><br />

those set by the following system options:
