The autogun is a rapid firing automatic weapon. Auto<br />

weapons are easy to manufacture and simple to use,<br />

and are amongst the most commonly employed<br />

weapons in the Underhive.<br />

Autoguns are made in the factories of the hive city<br />

and traded down through the hive. Crude but<br />

effective versions are made in the Underhive<br />

workshops themselves. Ammunition, spares and<br />

repair facilities are relatively easy to find throughout<br />

the Underhive, and traders always have guns and<br />

ammunition for sale.<br />

The boltgun or bolter is the standard armament of<br />

the Imperium’s finest fighting forces the Space<br />

Marines. It is a weapon made in limited quantities<br />

and to the highest standards using the most costly<br />

materials. Boltguns require constant attention and<br />

regular expert maintenance if they are to work<br />

properly.<br />

Bolt weapons fire a self-propelled armourpenetrating<br />

mass-reactive explosive missile called a<br />

bolt. Even bolts are expensive to make and cannot be<br />

easily fabricated in the undercity. Overall, boltguns<br />

are rare, expensive and prone to going wrong.<br />

However, they are very effective indeed.<br />

Despite their drawbacks boltguns are still highly<br />

favoured weapons. They make a great deal of noise<br />

and cause immense damage to any target they hit.<br />

They are prestige weapons carried by gang leaders<br />

and other fighters who are wealthy and don’t mind<br />

advertising the fact. A fighter with a bolter means<br />

business.<br />

This section covers weapons designed to be carried and used with two hands like an automatic rifle<br />

or sub-machine gun. These comprise some of the most common and effective weapons available to the<br />

Underhive fighters.<br />

Laser weapons are manufactured in vast quantities in<br />

the hive city and are exported to the armed forces of<br />

the Imperium throughout the galaxy. Lasguns are<br />

traded in Underhive settlements and the Guilders<br />

bring shipments from the factories above. Power<br />

packs come from the same source and some are<br />

made locally. Supplies of parts are plentiful and<br />

repairs easily effected.<br />

Laser technology is reliable and easy to replicate, and<br />

although the weapons are not the most powerful<br />

they are certainly the most trustworthy. A laser power<br />

pack will last for many shots and can be recharged<br />

from a standard power source or by exposing its<br />

thermal cells to heat or light. In an emergency a pack<br />

can be recharged by placing it in a fire, although such<br />

treatment tends to shorten the life of the pack and<br />

increase the probability of it failing. Many<br />

experienced fighters prefer the lasgun over more<br />

powerful weapons for these very reasons.<br />
