R-E&-T-R-I-C-T-3-D CHAPTER 2 DAILY TELEGRAM SECTION 1 PRESCRIBED USE 27. Definition. A Dally Telegram ie a messap dis- patched da y p d visions, air force service command and larger'hitbs reiquesting Class I and 111 supplies.f'It Is the basis for the supply of these lasses from the Communications Zone to the using unlta.16 28, Procedure. a. Individual units submit dally ration requests to their next hlgher headquarters. Divisions (for divisional and attached troops] and corps (for corps troops only) con- solidate unit requests and estimate their total ration requirements. They then prepare the daily telegram, giving the strength of the conmand, total rations required, and a report on the status and requirements of Class I11 suppliee.1° b. Corps and division daily telegrams are submitted direct to army. Army prepares a consolidated army telegram, based on the requirements of all subordinate units including army troops, on stock levels on hand In army supply points, and on estimated requirements for intended operatlons. Army submits its telegram to the regulating station, stating the mount of supplies deeired at each auoply point, The regulating station notifles the appro- priate Communications Zom depots whioh prepare an8 deliver the ehlpents to tie designated arm supply pointe.10 c. In the event that there is no regulating sta- tlon, divjsion and corps may submit their telegrams direct to the army supply point, which in turn consolidates and forwards st" to the army. The army may either submit it8 telegram direct to the Communications Zone depot, or 'GO the depot through the Advance Section, Communications Zone. 11 SECTION 2 USE IN THE EUROPEAN THEAm OF OPERATIONS 29. Procedure. a. The preparation, routing, and use of the daily telegram in the European Theater of Operations followed generally the procedure prescribed by the War Department. Class I and 1x1 supplles were procured by means of daily tebgrams which included the strength of the command and an outline of the Class 111 situation.2 The field armies prescribed that divisions, for divlslon and attached troops; oorps, for corps and attached trcope; and each unit of army troops would submit daily telegram,?
