IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
Lee E. Thomas, M. W. Past Grand Master.
W. Bro. Joseph Sinai.
The Board has met at regular intervals during the year, upon routine
business, there being very little other than the care and proper
maintenance of the Temple property to take up their attention.
At the second meeting of the Board the Grand Treasurer and the
Grand Secretary were instructed to make the following investments:
The sum of $580.00, being one-half of proceeds of sales of lots in
Masonic Cemetery, to be placed in savings bank to credit of the Special
Permanent Cemetery Fund, which is intended to be devoted to the
maintenance of the cemetery when all lots are sold.
Five thousand dollars to be invested in public improvement bonds
of the City of New Orleans, to be held for the credit of the Special Permanent
Belief Fund. (Eesolution M. W. Bro. Bobt. E. Eeid, 1906.)
Three thousand dollars out of the General Fund to be drawn from
open account and placed on Special Savings Deposit.
Tour Board has held several joint sessions with the Special Temple
Committee, appointed at the last Annual Grand Communication, so as
to have the benefit of their conclusions as to the condition of the Temple,
and also so as to advise with them in regard to temporary repairs.
- This Special Committee presented your Board with the following
statement as the result of their investigations made together with an
architect, a member of the Craft:
1. That the fifth floor was unsafe for a large crowd.
2. That the Grand Lodge Hall was not sufficiently large for its
increasing membership, and was unsafe for Grand Lodge meetings.
