68 PROCEEDINGS OF THE GRAND LODGE
since the erection of that Temple will not burden it with a
single, solitary assessment. Let it be a commodious building,
with fireproof vaults for our valuable records—with offices for
the Grand Secretary i and Library on the ground floor—Lodge
rooms on the second floor—and upon the third floor, halls and
rooms for the other Masonic Bodies, and a spacious auditorium
for Grand Lodge meetings. All of this to be of a chaste, harmonious
and suggestive architectural design, the cost not to
be above that which we can meet with our ordinary resources
together with the proceeds of the sale of our present site.
OFFICIAL ACTS.
On February 13th, pursuant to the resolution of the Grand
Lodge, referring to the incoming Grand Master, the power to
act according to its best judgment and discretion in the matter
of the participation of this Grand Lodge in the proposed Washington
Memorial Hall at Alexandria, Va., I commissioned Deputy
Grand Master Addington to represent the Grand Jurisdiction
of Louisiana at the meeting of the Washington Memorial Association
held on the 27th day of February, 1911. I especially
commend the work of my excellent Deputy in this matter, and
I herewith annex his correspondence to me upon the subjectmatter,
together with the Constitution of the Association, all
of which I submit for consideration by the proper Committee.
I must confess that I am not thoroughly in accord with the
movement as I am unable to appreciate the real benefits to
accrue from this organization. But, as my individual opinion
is not to be pitted against that of thirty-five Grand Jurisdictions
that have decided to participate in this Association, I again
refer this matter to the Grand Lodge, to be decided by it.
On February 16th, I signed the several commissions of the
District Deputy Grand Masters.
On February 16th, I approved the By-Laws of Live Oak
Lodge No. 246, F. & A. M., Lake Arthur, La.
On February 18th, I signed the commission of E. W. Brother
Joseph S. Johnson as Representative of the Grand Lodge of
Louisiana before the Grand Lodge of Maryland.
