Addington to proceed to Middle Creek Lodge No. 321 to dedicate
its Lodge room. I have the report of my good Brother, which
states that he performed this part of my duty and dedicated
the Lodge room according to our Ancient Custom. On that occasion
he addressed the Brethren and the assembled friends of
Masonry on the effectiveness of a Masonic Lodge in the community.
Brother Addington was very much impressed with the
serious purpose and character of the Brethren of Middle Creek
and feels it was, a privilege to meet with them.
On October 26th, I received an invitation to lay the corner
stone of the public school building at Mooringsport, La. I have
again to give thanks to my R. "W. District Deputy, Brother A.
W. Cheeseman, who represented me at the incident ceremonies.
There are a few District Deputies who have manifested so much
zeal as Brother Cheeseman. His Masonic activity is only excelled
by his Masonic enthusiasm. I do not commend his love
for our Institution, as it is only a logical result of his Masonic
learning. His intellectuality has enabled him to appreciate its
deep philosophy and the labor incident to the propagation of
its principles is to him a work of love.
On November 11th, I wrote to the Honorable John S. Brooks,
Grand Master of Mississippi, presenting a request from Jefferson
Lodge No. 191 of this Jurisdiction, to Brookhaven Lodge
No. 241 of Mississippi, ^f or a waiver of jurisdiction in favor of
Jefferson Lodge No. 191 over rejected material of Brookhaven
Lodge. I note that this waiver was refused.
On December 29th, unable to be present at the dedication of
the Masonic Temple in Shreveport, I requested R. "W. D. G. M.
E. H. Addington to represent me upon that occasion. Accompanied
by the members of the Grand Lodge, he attended the
dedicatory ceremonies of the Temple and publicly installed the
officers both of Shreveport Lodge No. 116 and Caddo Lodge No.
178. The services were most interesting and conducted in a
very impressive manner. Brother Addington on that occasion
addressed the Fraternity in a very able and dignified manner,
his effort being considered by all present as being masterly in
every respect.
