"Distributed to C. E. Aiken, June, 1872."<br />

Of the.se fourteen specimens all that can now be found is the skull of ^11|.<br />

The supraoccipital bone has been broken away; the angular process of the left<br />

half of the manilil>le is broken off, and all the molars on the upper right-hand<br />

<strong>si</strong>de are lost.<br />

No type is de<strong>si</strong>gnated and there is absolutely nothing by which any one f<br />

Baird's 15 specimens can be picked out as a type. Fourteen of the specimens<br />

came from Petaluma, California, and a <strong>si</strong>ngle one froui San Francisco. The<br />

former are regarded as cotypes and the type-locality fixed at Petaluma. (See<br />

Miller and Rehn, Proc. Bos't. Soc. Nat. Hist., XXX, p. 97, December 27, 1901.)<br />
