The skull has evidently been injured in recent years. Most of the rifi:ht half<br />

of the brain case has been broken away, including the right zygoma. The tip.-«<br />

of the nasals are injured and the region al)out the right premaxillo-maxillo-nasal<br />

sutures con<strong>si</strong>derably broken. There should be a skin. No. 3741, which can not<br />

be found.<br />

Type not de<strong>si</strong>gnated by number, but a con<strong>si</strong>deration of Allen's " Pinnipeds,"<br />

pp. 580-582, leaves no doubt that this specimen is the type.<br />
