Skull perfect except for loss of both malar bones. There should he a skin,<br />

No. 1039, which can not.be found.<br />

No type specified, but Baird's description is evidently based upon the above<br />

specimen, de<strong>si</strong>gnated by number. The skull of the above is figured. He had<br />

one other specimen, an alcoholic, now lost. His brief diagno<strong>si</strong>s says, "Hind<br />

foot near .70." No. 1039, in the table of measurements, is put down as .68,<br />

while 1040, the alcoholic, is .50. Evidently the diagno<strong>si</strong>s was based on No.<br />

1039. In Report Ignited <strong>States</strong> and ^lexican Boundary Survey, Part 2, page 43,<br />

1859, No. 1039 is alone spoken of.<br />
