A. b. c. Assez-bien conserve—An expression which
often occurs in foreign numismatic catalogues, and
which constitutes a matter of taste or opinion.
Agonistic, adj.—Connected with the public games of
Greece. The prize-money awarded to victors.
Agonoihetes—An officer sometimes named on the
ancient Phrygian money in connection with the public
games.
Aigrei, or heroii's crest—An almost invariable ad-
junct on the heads of the Waiwodes of Transylvania.
Alliance coins—Money struck by the Greeks pur-
suant to a concordat between two or more cities, either
for mercantile convenience or under some political
emergency. (See Head, Historia Numorwm, lxxvii.)
