ON mY WAY
emmanuelle Bercot
2013 / FRANCE
Bettie, in her sixties, suddenly finds
herself abandoned by her lover and
facing financial problems with her family
restaurant. What should she do with her
life? She gets in her car, just to take a spin
around the block, but this little ride takes
her on the road to her escape.
Down the road: encounters, coincidences,
a gala with a former Miss France,
reconciliation with her daughter, the
discovery of her grandson, and perhaps
love at the end of the trip... A role written
especially for Catherine Deneuve, far from
her image as an international idol.
2012 / FRANCE / DOCUMENTARY
Pascal Plisson’s camera follows five
children from different countries
whose access to education is difficult.
Sometimes forced to walk for miles or
to go down dangerous roads, they all
face countless hardships to reach their
schools. Aware that their survival depends
on knowledge, they struggle to satisfy
their thirst for learning.
This ambitious educational documentary
project takes us up steep roads in the
Sichuan province in China, into the Kenyan
savannah, to the Atlas Mountains of
Morocco, through the Indian countryside,
and into the Australian outback. An
exciting adventure, this film is for adults
and young people alike.
2012 / FRANCE, ISRAEL, SWITZERLAND / DOCUMENTARY
Ali Al-Azhari, a Muslim from Nazareth, talks
with filmmaker Avi Mograbi, a Jew, whose
familly used to live in Syria, telling about
his Middle East, now gone, an age-old
Middle East in which communities were
not separated by ethnic and religious
boundaries. He remembers a melting pot
that is now just a distant memory.
Full of humour and wit, the film revives
the memory of a Middle East in which life
together was possible and criticises the
present, in which this ideal is brutally
defiled.
