First, they intended to serve on It, and wanted their four advisers
with them: Messrs. F lexner, Hzrdin, Leidesdorf and Haass. Then - Mr. - - -
Bamberger accepted five persons named by Flexner: Messrs. Frank
- - Aydelotte, Alznson B. Houghton, Herbert khman, and kwis H. Weed, - -

and Dr. Florence R. Sabin. Next, Dr. Alexis Carrel and Dr, Julius

Frledemald were suggested by Flexner and accepted by Mr. Bamkrges.
The last two names had not been selected when the group met on the
12th of April, and it was deci&d to take two from Dr. Flemmr's list

to make up the fifteen: Mr. Dvfghk Morrow end Dr. George E. Vincent.
Flcmr signed the Certificate of Incorporation with Mr. Maass and the
donors on t h 13th of May, and then departed for Europe. Whether the
two last-named Trustees were contacted by others and declined, or
whether Mr. Bmberger had a change of heart, does not appear, but for
their names were substituted two of his am choice: hls nepheu, !k,
Edgar S. Bmberger, and his business associate at Bambexger's, b.

Percy Selden Straus. Thereafter new copies of the Certificate were
wde, and on the 20th of May signed by the Founders, and Nessrs. Hardin,
Leidesdorf and bass. Mr. Charles Hardin legally authenticated the
signatures, as he had the earlier om. 10
The Certificate follaued approved lines; the fifteen chosen
nams eppeared as those of Members of the Corporation who should elect
