several questions of mzrit, One concerned the requirement that<br />

all checks on <strong>Institute</strong> deposittries must be drawn by the Treasurer<br />

and countersigned by the President, the Vice-President, or a m-<br />

ber cf the Finance Camittee. &zss suggested that the By-bus<br />

might better provide that such signatures should be prescribed by<br />

conferred on the Directar should be subject to approval either of<br />

Hardin's draft <strong>for</strong> duplfcation and rafling to each Trustee. Prohbly<br />

Mr. FGESS felt it was necessary to send his letter raising questions<br />

to Mr. Hardin as a no-1 courtesy be<strong>for</strong>e bringing the questions<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e the Board.<br />

20. Dr. Flexner supplied Mr. Hardin with e copy of the amended By-Laws<br />

of bath the General Education Board and the Rockefeller <strong>Institute</strong><br />

<strong>for</strong> Eedical Research, during the drafting stage. <strong>The</strong> General<br />

Education Board had emended its laws an the 23rd of Hay, 1929 to<br />

provide that no trustee should be elected or reelected uho had<br />

attained the age of sfxty-five years.<br />
