Test Plan for Optical Grooming Switches
A SONET/SDH protocol tester to through-mode within main trunk in direction between Port
A and Port B
• Clock from received data.
• Through mode.
• Out of service, transparent.
TCA050: Create protected, revertive trail.
Purpose:
Confirm trail creation
Test method:
1. Start off with Configuration A, with no trails configured.
2. Using switch management system, create protected, revertive trail of OC-48 granularity
3. Confirm trail is created and running error free
Expected result:
• SDH testers report error free transmission.
• Switch management reports correct trail creation.
Any other comments:
None
TCA051: Line Span/Multiplex section overhead bytes.
Purpose
Confirm the transparency of the network equipment to Line Span/Multiplex section.
Test method:
1. Following on from successful completion of TCA050
2. Using the in-line SONET/SDH Testers, insert an Error rate.
3. Using the SONET/SDH Testers insert a LOS and monitor the K1,K2 from the next node.
Expected result:
• If the switch network is transparent at the Line Span/Multiplex Section level then:
B2 should remain unaltered as B2's are re-calculated at the end of a multiplex
section.
K1, K2 should not be altered by intermediate switch nodes.
Any other comments:
If the system is completely transparent the Line Span/Multiplex section overhead
bytes should not be altered.
TCA052: Section Span/Regenerator Section overhead bytes.
Purpose
Confirming transparency of the network equipment to the Section Span/Regenerator section
Test method:
1. Following on from successful completion of TCA051
2. Using the switch management system, check if J0 can be reassigned.
3. Using the in-line SONET/SDH Testers, insert an Error rate.
Expected result:
• If the switch network is transparent at the Section Span/Regenerator Section level
then:
B1 should remain unaltered.
