indicating card out
Any other comments:
END OF BLOCK 12
BLOCK 13. Node Failure and 1:N transponder protection on WDM system
Test Block description:
Procedure:
Blocks of tests to proceed in sequence from TCA063 to TC065.
TCA063: Node failure and trail restoration
Purpose:
If an entire node is destroyed in a ring network, as many as possible of the circuits passing
through the node should be switched/restored
Test method:
1. Start off with “clean” configuration A – no alarms and no trails configured
2. Break fibre PAR#5-NY#3
3. Set up unprotectedSTS-1 trail from PAR#8-NY#6 and monitor traffic over it using
4. Pull out all fuses (one at a time) on London node (assuming 2.5G circuit is routed via
London – if via LA then use LA instead) – thus killing the node
5. Confirm traffic is restored
Expected results:
• Single fuse removal should not be traffic affecting.
• 2.5G Paris-NY circuit should be re-routed. Record the new route and the duration of
any loss of traffic.
• Alarms should be raised to indicate loss of node
Any other comments:
None
TCA064: Test reboot of failed node
Purpose:
To see what happens when London node is on again
Test method:
1. Follows on from successful completion of TCA063
2. Replace the fuses in London node and wait until the node is up again
3. Monitor and note node rack alarms
4. Monitor and management system and note time period from power on to node appears as
present on management system.
Expected results:
