BLOCK 15. STM-64 MS-SPRING tests<br />

TCB008: Support <strong>for</strong> SDH STM-64 MS-SPRING (2-fibre)<br />

Purpose:<br />

Confirm support <strong>for</strong> 2 fibre STM-64 MS-SPRING (2-fibre)<br />

Equipment required:<br />

4 SDH test sets<br />

<strong>Test</strong> method:<br />

1. Start with a clean network – no circuits configured and no alarms<br />

2. Set up a VC4 circuit from LON#6 to NY#6<br />

<strong>Test</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Optical</strong> <strong>Grooming</strong> <strong>Switches</strong><br />

Expected result:<br />

• System is user-friendly enough that BTexact can set trail up in less than 10 minutes<br />

• Traffic is carried error free<br />

• Switch management system clearly shows route of circuit<br />

Any other comments:<br />

If supplier does not support 2-fibre MS-SPRING they may instead offer 4-fibre MS-SPRING<br />

<strong>for</strong> this test . Lack of support <strong>for</strong> 2-fibre MS-SPRING will be recorded.<br />

It is assumed that if the system supports OC-48 BLSR and STM-64 MS-SPRING then it will<br />

also support OC-192 BLSR<br />

TCB009: Confirm SPRING protection in event of card failure<br />

<strong>Test</strong> purpose:<br />

To confirm basic operation of an MS-SPRING and to confirm ring protection in event of card<br />

failure<br />

Equipment needed:<br />

4 SDH test sets<br />

<strong>Test</strong> method:<br />

1. Following successful completion of TCB008<br />

2. Set up second circuit on the ring – a VC4-16c from LA#8 to NY#7<br />

3. Pull out card LON#4<br />

Expected results:<br />

• VC4 circuit from LON#6 to NY#6 should see less than 50 ms loss of traffic<br />

• VC4-16c circuit from LA#8 to NY#7 should experience no loss of traffic<br />

• Within 10 seconds an alarm should be raised indicating card out<br />

• Switch management system should clearly show the circuit routings<br />

TCB010: Confirm MS-SPRING reverts when card is replaced<br />

<strong>Test</strong> purpose:<br />

To confirm correct operation of MS-SPRING when card is replaced.<br />

Equipment needed:<br />

4 SDH testers<br />
