Test Plan for Optical Grooming Switches
Test method:
1. View PARIS node on network management system and confirm management system is
managing node and working correctly.
2. Set up and monitor a circuit from Paris - LA
3. Interrupt the IP communication primary link to Paris by removing DCN RJ45 connector.
4. View management system and confirm node remains a managed item and that traffic is
not effected
Expected result:
Alarm should appear within 10 seconds showing loss of primary DCN connection.
The node should remain to be a manage node on management system with no loss of
functionality.
No effect on traffic on Paris-LA circuit
Any other comments:
None
TCA057: Reaction to loss of all out of band DCN links on single node.
Purpose
Confirm reaction to loss of all out-of-band DCN connections to the node.
Test method:
1. Following on from TCA056
2. View Paris node on network management system and confirm management system is
managing node and working correctly.
3. Interrupt the IP communication backup link to Paris by removing DCN RJ45 connector.
4. View management system and confirm status of node.
5. Attempt to add trail, using resources within unmanaged trail.
Expected result:
Critical Alarm of loss of both DCN connection within 10 seconds.
Management of the node should still be possible via in-band
Paris-LA circuit should still be error free
Any other comments:
None
TCA058: Reaction to reconnection of DCN on single node.
Purpose
Confirm reaction to re-establishment to DCN connections to the node.
Test method:
1. Restore the IP communication secondary link by replacing DCN RJ45 connector.
2. View management system and confirm node returns as a managed item.
3. Check that node resources are available for use.
4. Restore the IP communication primary link by replacing DCN RJ45 connector.
Expected result:
Critical Alarm of loss of DCN connection removed within 10 seconds.
The node is shown as a fully managed node on management system within 1 minute.
No effect on traffic over node.
