J0 should remain unaltered.
Test Plan for Optical Grooming Switches
Any other comments:
If truly transparent system Section Span/Regenerator Section overhead bytes not
should be altered.
TCA053: Automated checks on each byte in the Regenerator and Multiplex section
using test script.
Purpose:
Automated test script to investigate the transparency of the network equipment.
Test method:
1. Following on from successful completion of TCA052
2. Run automated test using tool developed by BTexact to check each byte in the Section
Span/Regenerator Section and Line Span/Multiplex Section, except A1, A2, J0, B1, B2,
K1, K2 & H1/H2/H3 pointers 1 , recording the time at which the test was started. The tool
will provide a report to indicate which bytes are sent and received correctly.
Expected result:
For a transparent system the SONET/SDH section overhead will remain unaltered.
For a semi-transparent only a small part of the section overhead shall be processed, as clearly
stated by suppliers equipment documentation.
Any other comments:
1 Cannot use remote control script to test these bytes. A1, A2, J0, K1 & K2 can be tested manually,
separately if required. B1, B2 & AU pointers are automatically generated and so cannot be inserted
arbitrarily, although B1 & B2 error handling are included as separate tests.
END OF BLOCK 9
BLOCK 10. Alarm reporting – including “flapping” alarms
Test Block description:
Investigating the ability of the switch management system to accurately and quickly
display network events.
Procedure:
Blocks of tests to proceed in sequence from TCA054 to TC0XX.
Test equipment needed:
Four SONET/SDH test sets.
Switch management system.
Optomechanical with automated control.
Test equipment placement and set-up:
• Using set-up form previous test block (Transparency of vendors system).
TCA054: measure approximate time interval between breaking path, and GUI reporting
fault and fault cleared.
Purpose
To measure the response time for displaying of alarms
Test method:
1. Insert optomechanical switch in main working trunk.
