Once onl<strong>in</strong>e, these teachers’ onl<strong>in</strong>e activities mirror those of the full adult popul<strong>at</strong>ion, <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>clude social<br />
network<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>form<strong>at</strong>ion seek<strong>in</strong>g, video <strong>and</strong> media consumption, <strong>and</strong> content cre<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
<strong>Teachers</strong> <strong>and</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e social network<strong>in</strong>g<br />
The percent of AP <strong>and</strong> NWP teachers <strong>in</strong> this sample who use social network<strong>in</strong>g sites such as Facebook or<br />
L<strong>in</strong>kedIn, as well as the percent who use Twitter, are considerably higher than the n<strong>at</strong>ional figures for all<br />
U.S. adults. They are also higher than n<strong>at</strong>ional figures for adult <strong>in</strong>ternet users.<br />
As is the case with both teens <strong>and</strong> adults n<strong>at</strong>ionwide, the most popular social network<strong>in</strong>g site among<br />
teachers is Facebook, used by 73% of social network<strong>in</strong>g teachers. Rank<strong>in</strong>g a distant second <strong>in</strong> popularity<br />
among this group is YouTube (used by 32%), followed by L<strong>in</strong>kedIn <strong>and</strong> Google+ (each used by 28%).<br />
Asked how frequently they use social network<strong>in</strong>g sites, more than six <strong>in</strong> 10 teachers who use these sites<br />
say they use them daily (30% <strong>at</strong> least once a day, 32% several times a day). Another 23% use these sites<br />
<strong>at</strong> least once a week, while the rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 15% use them less often.<br />
