develop friendly relationships between the teacher <strong>an</strong>d student, <strong>an</strong>d student <strong>an</strong>d<br />

student. She also facilitated students’ argument in discussion, <strong>an</strong>d promoted<br />

classroom participations for students valuing in classroom study. As the results, the<br />

students were found to be confident of the participation. They also could develop the<br />

underst<strong>an</strong>ding based on the new teaching unit by themselves.<br />

On the other h<strong>an</strong>d, the teachers who emphasized teacher-centered <strong>approach</strong><br />

<strong>an</strong>d perceived the student role as a passive learner rarely appeared to regard on the<br />

learning culture <strong>an</strong>d participation. Teaching often focused on lecturing abstract<br />

photosynthesis concepts to cover all contents for taking the examination. The<br />

students did not appear to prefer the teaching. For example, S05, the student in Mr.<br />

Vyn’s classroom addressed that “It seemed to me that no problem solving in our<br />

class…there was just studying death knowledge…” Also, S12, the student in Mrs.<br />

Amp’s classroom, was going to study biology with the private tutorial institutes with<br />

her perceptions that the classroom teaching could not convince her for taking the<br />

National Entr<strong>an</strong>ce Examination.<br />

Up to this point, the Chapter V illustrated m<strong>an</strong>y findings of the<br />

implementation <strong>an</strong>d impacts of the photosynthesis teaching intervention. The<br />

summary of this Chapter V has been presented below.<br />

Summary<br />

This research conducted three case studies of the teachers. There were one<br />

hundred <strong>an</strong>d eighteen students being taught using the photosynthesis teaching<br />

intervention. Twelve of the students were in-depth studied. The studies concerned<br />

their progress from the introductory knowledge about photosynthesis to the adv<strong>an</strong>ced<br />

knowledge <strong>an</strong>d their views about the teaching intervention. The findings illustrated<br />

that teacher’s belief of student learning, content knowledge, roles of teaching <strong>an</strong>d<br />

formative assessment impacted on the teachers’ implementation. The teachers who<br />

believe in constructivist <strong>approach</strong>, have strong contents <strong>an</strong>d regard to Thai socio-<br />
