Module Status Word The Module Status Word (MSW) shows the status of the <strong>1747</strong>-BSN<br />

module itself and its counterpart in the remote system. Bits 0 through<br />

7 show the local status while bits 8 through 15 show the remote<br />

status. The module status bits have the following meaning:<br />

• HSSL: High-Speed Serial Link status: This bit is set when the<br />

HSSL is faulted or has communication errors in the local <strong>1747</strong>-<br />

BSN module (bit 0) or in the remote one (bit 8). The normal state<br />

of this bit is OFF;<br />

• LSL: Local Status Link status: This bit is set when the Local<br />

Status Link is not working well in the local system (bit 1) or<br />

remote system (bit 9). If the system has only one <strong>1747</strong>-BSN<br />

module in each chassis, then the LSL is not used and this bit is<br />

reset. The normal state of this bit is OFF;<br />

• Buffer Full: This bit is set when the secondary <strong>1747</strong>-BSN is<br />

receiving a second block of data before the reading of the first<br />

block by the secondary SLC 5/0x. It could be occurring in the<br />

local system (bit 2) or remote system (bit 10);<br />

• DH+ Communication: This bit is set when a problem occurs<br />

with the DH+ network in the local (bit 3) or remote (bit 11)<br />

<strong>1747</strong>-BSN module. The type of problem that may occur is<br />

different for primary and secondary systems (as shown below).<br />
