Section 7 of the TJ) and from the open and blind
trial test pieces (see section 11 of the TJ).
However, if the test pieces used for laboratory
trials or open trials allow also to obtain the
required information on the material structure
then it may not be necessary to fabricate
structure trial welds. The present section of the
technical justification should describe the
structure trial welds and the results obtained
from them as described below.
Austenitic Welds
The materials used and the fabrication
procedure should have been provided as part of
the information discussed in Section 2 of the TJ.
Any structure trial weld should generally be
made of the same thickness and geometry as
the actual one in order to investigate the
influence of structure. In addition, where welds
are made positionally and there are grounds for
believing that the structure may vary from place
to place around the circumference of a weld, a
full simulation may be necessary. Where welds
exhibit the same structure throughout their
volume, a smaller weld may be satisfactory, but
the arguments which support the constant
structure should be included in this section of
the technical justification. A structure trial weld
may therefore be desirable for each component
where there are differences in geometry,
dimensions or fabrication procedure. Indeed,
the results from such trial welds may provide the
information needed to determine whether all
components could be covered by the same test
pieces for the later test piece trials.
Once any structure trial welds are available they
should be sectioned, polished and etched to
reveal the grain structure of the weld in a plane
containing the perpendiculars to the weld
blinda praktiska demonstrationer (se kapitel 11 i
den tekniska motiveringen). Emellertid, om de
testblock som används för laboratorieförsök eller
öppna praktiska demonstrationer är utformade
så att de tillåter insamlandet av erforderlig
information om materialstrukturen, är det inte
nödvändigt att utföra särskilda provsvetsar. Det
aktuella kapitlet i den tekniska motiveringen ska
beskriva dessa provsvetsar och resultaten från
dessa på det sätt som beskrivs nedan.
Austenitiska svetsar
