Change LOCAL_PREFERENCE attribute<br />

In FTOS, you can change the value of the LOCAL_PREFERENCE attribute.<br />

Use the following command in the CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode to change the default values<br />

of this attribute for all routes received by the router.<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

bgp default local-preference<br />

value<br />

Use the show config command in CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode or the show<br />

running-config bgp command in EXEC Privilege mode to view BGP configuration.<br />

A more flexible method for manipulating the LOCAL_PREF attribute value is to use a route map.<br />

Use these commands in the following sequence, starting CONFIGURATION mode to change the default<br />

value of the LOCAL_PREF attribute for specific routes.<br />

To view the BGP configuration, use the show config command in the CONFIGURATION ROUTER<br />

BGP mode. To view a route map configuration, use the show route-map command in EXEC Privilege<br />

mode.<br />

Change NEXT_HOP attribute<br />

You can change how the NEXT_HOP attribute is used.<br />

Change the LOCAL_PREF value.<br />

• value range: 0 to 4294967295<br />

• Default is 100.<br />

assign a name to a route map.<br />

meeting the criteria of this route map.<br />

exit CONFIG-ROUTE-MAP Return to the CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

router bgp as-number CONFIGURATION Enter the ROUTER BGP mode.<br />

neighbor {ip-address |<br />

peer-group-name} route-map<br />

map-name {in | out}<br />

CONFIG-ROUTER-BGP Apply the route map to the neighbor or<br />

peer group’s incoming or outgoing<br />

routes.<br />
