Highlights In partnership with Schroder Property Investment Management and Deutsche Property Asset Management, with debt fi nance from Royal Bank of Scotland, acquired J Sainsbury Developments Limited as a going concern for €245.7m (£165.5 m) • A joint venture between Catalyst Capital, Bank of Scotland and West Coast Capital acquired a €460 m (£310 m) retail property portfolio from REIT comprising six shopping centres across the UK, totalling 139,354 sq m. History Catalyst Capital LLP was established in 2001 with the acquistion of the European division of the New York based, Greenwich Group International LLC (GGI), by Julian Newiss, Chairman of the European division, Peter Kasch, its Managing Director and key members of the senior management team. Catalyst Capital LLP subsequently absorbed all the property asset management and equity contracts of the €891 million (£600 m) UK property portfolio. Catalyst Capital LLP commenced operations with the full support of former GGI co-investors including Merrill Lynch, Starwood Capital, Lehman Brothers, Fog Cutter Capital Group, JER Partners and the Baupost Group.
Partner Crown NorthCorp Limited’s group provides mortgage servicing and asset management for European investors in real estate and mortgage assets. It is approved as a mortgage servicer by the three major rating agencies and is owned by Crown NorthCorp Inc, a US based, SEC reporting company. Crown also owns interests in businesses providing commercial property asset management services in Sweden and securitisation and master servicing solutions in Belgium. Its Belgian based business, TBE, is a joint venture with Fortis Bank. Crown intends to build on its servicing platforms to create a pan-European group providing servicing and related services to lenders and the capital markets across Europe. It is currently building a new business in Germany and looking at opportunities for businesses in France, Italy and the Netherlands.
