BROADCASTING:<br />

RADIO PROGRAM MANAGEMENT<br />

The Radio Broadcasting Program Management certificate indicates successful<br />

completion of courses covering the operation of digital and analog studio<br />

systems required for on-air and basic production applications. Additional<br />

emphasis is placed upon radio station programming techniques, management<br />

structure, research, and the responsibilities of the program director.<br />

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />

1. Develop an understanding of the radio broadcasting industry from a<br />

strategic, analytical, organizational, cultural, and historic perspective.<br />

2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the radio broadcasting<br />

operation from a management perspective.<br />

3. Analyze the marketplace from a strategic standpoint and create a<br />

commerci<strong>all</strong>y viable radio station operations plan.<br />

The Radio Broadcasting Studio Operations certificate indicates successful<br />

completion of courses focusing on the operation of digital and analog studio<br />

equipment required for on-air and basic production applications.<br />

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />

1. Demonstrate the ability to operate radio on-air studio and transmission<br />

equipment in a professional and legal manner.<br />

2. Formulate and prepare both digital and analog radio production elements.<br />

3. Create and organize a professional-quality radio portfolio consisting of a<br />

broadcast aircheck, production samples, resume, and related materials.<br />

4. Identify the procedures required to execute a live remote broadcast.<br />

The Broadcasting: Sports Television Certificate of Accomplishment will show<br />

that a student has successfully completed a sequence of classes and developed<br />

specific skills required to pursue a career in commercial sports broadcasting.<br />

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />

1. Identify the type of light present and recognize what additional lighting will<br />

be needed.<br />

2. Calibrate and adjust video and audio levels.<br />

3. Execute commands from a control room director.<br />

4. Write promotional copy for a sporting event.<br />

This certificate provides students with communication skills required for careers<br />

in business.<br />

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />

1. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate in various business<br />

communication contexts (team building, conflict management, interviews,<br />

sm<strong>all</strong> group communication) with diverse audiences to meet the goals of<br />

the intended communication.<br />
