ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP<br />
This Certificate of Accomplishment signifies that students have completed<br />
coursework in biological, human, socioeconomic, and political principles as they<br />
relate to and are influenced by the environment. The courses include an<br />
emphasis on a scientific understanding of the environment, social and<br />
economic concepts, and an awareness of the behaviors that protect or damage<br />
the earth and its resources. On completion of this certificate students will have<br />
the ability to better understand their relationship with the planet and obtain an<br />
understanding of how their behavior (including energy and natural resource<br />
use) affects the environment they inhabit. This certificate provides an excellent<br />
background for the various careers in the fields of environmental studies,<br />
environmental sciences, public policy, and energy management.<br />
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES<br />
1. Recognize the major components of the earth’s systems and how they<br />
function.<br />
2. Recognize the important effects of political, economic, social, and<br />
educational forces on environmental protection.<br />
3. Examine individual impacts on global resources and recognize the patterns<br />
of unequal distribution of resources worldwide.<br />
4. Demonstrate their understanding of the importance of natural resource<br />
policy, major natural resource and environmental regulations, and the<br />
current issues in private and public natural resource management.<br />
5. Apply scientific and environmental concepts in studying the environment.<br />
6. Recognize the link between healthy ecosystems (air, water, and land) and<br />

FINE ARTS<br />
The Fine Arts Certificate of Accomplishment recognizes the completion of<br />
acquired skills in the field of Fine Arts. This certificate gives students a broad<br />
understanding of modern or ancient art.<br />

1. Identify the visual elements of art and the organizational principles for their<br />
use.<br />
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the two dimensional and three<br />
dimensional design concepts (i.e. line, shape and form, color, value, scale,<br />

The Fitness Instructor Certificate of Accomplishment provides the instruction,<br />
skills, knowledge, and experience that facilitate employment in a job setting<br />
such as sports and fitness centers. The certificate provides an excellent<br />
foundation for students interested in a career in exercise science, athletic<br />
training, physical therapy, and other health related careers.<br />
