We attract, support and encourage sporting, cultural and other events around the District. District retains Ironman and Cycle Challenge and seeks to attract new world class events. Achieve Achieved. Ironman and Cycle Challenge retained. Taupo Summer Concert was successful and maintained participation and quality. International 4 National Polocrosse event held successfully in Easter 2013. Approximately 7 other events had international participation. Number of participants in events is increasing. 2% per year On Track. Participation in some traditional endurance events has decreased, however new and existing participation based event growth has balanced out the loss. The major gains from the first 3 quarters have been generated by spectators at events, many of which were held over the Christmas and Easter period. 30
