EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Resource Management Act 1981 requires Council to maintain a district plan. Over time
Council has made amendments to the operative Taupo District Plan through plan changes. The
process for considering plan changes is dictated by the First Schedule of the Act.
Plan Change 24 (Landscape and Natural Values) and Plan Change 25 (Landscape and Natural
Values - Subdivision), have been under appeal, however those matters have been resolved
through mediation and consent order issued by the Environment Court. Similarly, decisions on
Plan Change 32 (Spa Road Mixed Use Environment) have been notified and no appeals were
received.
The means all three plan changes are beyond challenge, enabling Council to approve them and
make them part of the operative Taupo District Plan. This is the final step in the plan change
process, requiring the affixing of the Council seal and notification of the date when the plan
changes will become operative.
SUGGESTED RESOLUTION
1. That in accordance with clause 17 of the hirst scnedule of the Resource
Management Act 1991, Council approves Plan Change 24 (Landscape and Natural
Values), Plan Change 25 (Landscape and Natural Values - Subdivision), and Plan
Change 32 (Spa Road Mixed Use Environment).
2. That in accordance with clause 20 of the First Schedule of the Resource
Management Act 1991, Plan Changes 24, 25 and 32 will be come operative on
14 June 2013.
