「サヴァリ(Jacques Savary, 1622―90)はフランスの 織 物 商 人 、 宰 相 コルベールに 認 められ、
1673 年 のフランスの 商 法 制 定 の 事 業 にも 参 加 した。 本 書 はこの 商 法 制 定 の 翌 々 年 の1675 年 にパ
リで 書 かれたもので、その 翌 年 には 早 くもドイツ 語 に 翻 訳 され、 後 年 には、イギリス、イタリア、
ポルトガルでも 翻 訳 され、 多 くの 読 者 を 得 、 時 代 を 益 した。 全 体 は3 部 に 分 かれており、 商 業 に 従
事 する 者 に 必 要 な 知 識 として 一 般 に 考 えられていた 全 てを 網 羅 しており、 更 には 簿 記 を 始 め、 商

「 商 人 必 携 」の 草 分 けである 本 書 は、18 世 紀 にイギリスで、キング『イギリス 商 人 』(King,
Charles. The British Merchant, 3 vols., London, 1721)や デ フ ォ ー『 完 全 な イ ギ リ ス 商 人 』
(Defoe, Daniel. The Complete English Tradesman, 2 vols., London, 1725―27)、に 直 接 に 引 き
継 がれています。
