Preparing to Use Casper Focus
Before teachers can use Casper Focus, you need to prepare it for use in the classroom. You need:
•
•
•
•
Teacher and student mobile devices with iOS 5.1.1 or later. Student devices must be enrolled with the
Casper Suite v8.7 or later.
(For focus actions only) Student mobile devices with iOS 6 or later that are supervised by Apple
Configurator
An LDAP server connection set up in the JSS
If you do not have an LDAP connection set up, teachers can log in to Casper Focus with a JSS user
account. (For information on setting up an LDAP server connection, see the “Integrating with LDAP
Servers” section.)
Classes created in the JSS (For information on creating classes, see the "Managing Classes" section.)
In addition, Casper Focus must be able to connect to the JSS to work. To do this, the JSS URL setting in
Casper Focus must be populated with the JSS URL. You can preconfigure the JSS URL by following the
instructions in the following Knowledge Base article:
https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/article.html?id=323
If these settings are not configured, teachers will have to manually enter the JSS URL when they open the
app for the first time.
