Minutes of the Lambton Shores Fire Board Meeting – February 21, 2013
4. REPORTS FROM THE CHIEFS
The Board reviewed written reports from four of the Lambton Shores Fire Chiefs all of
which are on file with the Municipality.
Northville Chief Ron Huxley was unable to attend the meeting.
Brad Clark– Thedford Captain, reported that the Thedford department had responded to
4 calls to date, that training was ongoing and it was noted that the Thedford Fire
Department was hosting the Lambton County Chiefs’ Quarterly Meeting at the Village
Complex February 27, 2013.
Dave McLean – Forest Chief, provided an update on his Department’s calls and
training, and noted that he and two members of his department had done a pre-build
inspection on the proposed new truck for the Forest Fire Department. Chief MacLean
advised that it is anticipated the new truck will be delivered in October of 2013 and that
the old rescue vehicle for the Forest Department had been sold for $50,000.00
Jerry VanBruaene – Grand Bend Chief, reported that the Grand Bend Fire Department
had responded to 7 calls to date, that repairs to the Grand Bend Station were ongoing
and that a recent fire had been mistakenly called out to Grand Bend when it should
have been Arkona, that the Communications Centre in Wallaceburg should take note
that this does not occur again.
Jim Sisler – Arkona Chief, reported that his department had only one call so far this
year, that the Arkona tanker had been temporarily repaired, that his department was
reviewing the Safe Operating Guidelines and were being recertified in CPR.
5. CONSIDERATION OF STAFF REPORTS
5.1 TR Report No. 27-2013 – Re: Fire Marshal Presentation
Information prepared by the Fire Marshal’s Office on the best practices and possible
changes to the setup of the Departments and current structure of the Fire Board was
presented to the Fire Board at the request of Council, for their input.
It was noted that the Acting C.A.O. Janet Ferguson would be meeting with the Chiefs to
review the establishing by-law 47-2001, and those suggestions summarized in the Fire
Marshal’s presentation such as ensuring all Fire Protection Agreements, and that the
Fire Chiefs develop and implement all approved Fire Department policies such as
SOG’s and SOP’s.

That TR Report No. 27-2012 regarding the Fire Marshal’s
presentation of February 19th, 2013 be received and that the Acting
C.A.O. and Chiefs proceed in discussing the summary presented in
the Fire Marshal’s report to Council.
