Black Spruce Swamp (Palustrine - Closed Canopy)<br />

This plant community has been classified by <strong>the</strong> NJ Heritage Program as critically imperiled. It is an atypically<br />

cool swamp environment, with remnants occurring within <strong>the</strong> Farny Highlands (e.g., Budd Lake in Mount<br />

Olive Township). Often found adjacent to bogs, <strong>the</strong>se swamps <strong>for</strong>m a later successional stage <strong>of</strong> bogs.<br />
