This community can be found in <strong>the</strong> higher elevations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Highlands (e.g., Farny) where conditions are<br />

severe due to constant wind, and low temperatures with subsequent shorter growing season, in addition to thin,<br />

poor soils. Paucity <strong>of</strong> vegetation is reflected in low vertebrate diversity.<br />
