Domestic Violence Shelter and Services
Description: Emergency domestic violence shelter for victims fleeing abuse and their
dependent children. Walk-in counseling about domestic abuse. Referrals for other
services. Legal advocacy to obtain orders of protection.
Eligibility: Victims of intimate partner violence or child witness of intimate partner
violence.

Remedies' other sites in Belvidere, Rockford's Eastside and courthouse (Rockford)
location.
Fees: No fees; all services are free.

HOUSING
Description: The Rockford Housing Authority administers its Section Eight program in
the most flexible manner consistent with HUD regulations. The following programs are
administered by the Rockford Housing Authority under the Section Eight subsidy
program:
• Housing Choice Voucher Programs
• Moderate Rehabilitation Program
• Project Based Section Eight
These programs enable participants to receive a subsidy while leasing from landlords in
the private market. To qualify, an applicant must:
• Meet the definition of "family"
• Meet HUD's income guidelines
• Furnish Social Security numbers
• Furnish evidence of citizenship/eligible immigrant status
