SHELTER<br />
Description: The New Promise <strong>Center</strong> is a housing, social service, and spiritual<br />
enhancement program of the South Side Mission for homeless women and women with<br />
children. The <strong>Center</strong> offers case management, psychological and medical assessments,<br />
pastoral care, biblical studies, and life-skills and health classes. Staff refer clients to local<br />
employment training, education programs, and social service and community programs<br />
for specific human needs.<br />

Referral Procedures: Preferably clients are pre-screened by telephone before intake, but<br />
walk-ins are welcomed. Proof of identification is required. The client must be able to<br />
physically care for herself (and children) and participate in the daily required activities.<br />
The New Promise <strong>Center</strong> is inappropriate for persons who need assisted living, have<br />
severe or unattended psychological and medical needs, and active drug/alcohol use.<br />

DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES<br />
Description: Sparc is a 501 ( c )(3) not-for-profit organization, founded in 1951, by a<br />
group of parents of children with cognitive disabilities (formerly referred to as mental<br />
retardation). Sparc's mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and<br />
developmental disabilities by enabling them to successfully live, learn, work, and<br />
socialize in the community. Sparc fulfills its mission through programs attuned to the<br />
unique potential of each individual and designed to build self confidence and<br />
