VSP Interface
• Ability to indicate that hard and soft contact lenses are nonelective in the Rx
Order window.
To indicate nonelective lenses, select Necessary Contact Lenses from the
Reason drop-down menu in the Rx Order window. The Elective and
Nonelective radio buttons have been removed and the elective status of the
lens will be determined from the Reason drop-down menu.
• For hard and soft contact lens orders where contact lenses are recorded as
nonelective, an eyewear prescription is required to demonstrate that contact
lenses are medically necessary. A pop-up window will open when the order
is recorded. Any existing eyewear prescriptions will populate the pop-up
window, and you can edit or enter a new prescription as needed.
• For hard and soft contact lens orders that were not associated with an exam,
and for which you select Initial Supply or Initial and Additional from the
Reason drop-down menu in the Rx Order window, the CLCP Additional Info
window opens when you record the order. The CLCP window allows you to
select an exam code to ensure that the patient costs are calculated correctly
for the Contact Lens Care Program.
• Ability to map plano sunglasses to VSP products in the VSP Product
Mapping window.
To map plano sunglasses, click Tasks in OfficeMate Administration, select
VSP Product Mapping, click Product Mapping, and select Plano
Sunglasses from the Product Type drop-down menu.
• The Shape column has been removed from the VSP Product Mapping
window. Shape is no longer required for frames that are included on VSP
orders.
• Ability to record two different types of contact lenses (e.g., spherical for one
eye and toric for the other eye) for a patient on VSP orders. Claims for orders
with two different lens types are not sent automatically like other VSP claims;
rather, these claims are processed in the Third Party Processing window.
