The Patient Demographic window includes the following new features:
• Ability to record eligibility notes without having to record all of the details of
the patient’s eligibility. This feature is designed to allow you to quickly create
notes about patients’ eligibility while you are on the phone with an insurance
carrier. When the fee slip is created and the patient’s insurance is selected,
the Eligibility/Authorization window automatically opens (if the new
preference, Pop-Up Copay/Eligibility information on Fee Slip, is set to Yes;
for more information about this preference, go to “Preferences” on page 26)
to display the notes that were entered. You will need to record copayment
information at that time.
To record eligibility notes, open the patient’s demographic record, click the
Insurance tab, select the insurance carrier, click Eligibility/Authorization,
type your notes in the Comments text box, and click Save.
• Ability to record multiple authorizations to coordinate benefits for patients
who are eligible through two different VSP insurance plans. For example, a
patient who has VSP benefits through her employer and her spouse's
employer may be eligible to coordinate those benefits and, therefore, qualify
for more services.
To coordinate benefits, record both VSP insurance plans on the Patient
Demographics window (Insurance tab) and record or retrieve an
authorization for both VSP insurance plans.
