The improved Rx Order windows in OfficeMate contain a number of new features.
This section describes enhancements to all order windows. For specific order
window information, go to “Eyewear Order” on page 9, “Soft Lens Order” on page
9, or “Hard Lens Order” on page 10. The following new features are available in
all order windows:
• Ability to edit Rx orders on which patient open charges were deleted. The Rx
order on which patient open charges were deleted will then display the
following text: “Some or all charges have been closed out.”
• Ability to coordinate benefits for patients who are eligible through two
different VSP insurance plans. For example, a patient who has VSP benefits
through her employer and her spouse's employer may be eligible to
coordinate those benefits and, therefore, qualify for more services. When
prompted, select the authorization for the patient’s primary VSP insurance
plan (usually the plan where Self is listed as the insured).
• Ability to indicate that hard and soft contact lenses are nonelective for VSP
orders.
To indicate nonelective lenses, select Necessary Contact Lenses from the
Reason drop-down menu. The Elective and Nonelective radio buttons have
been removed and the elective status of the lens will be determined from the
Reason drop-down menu.
• For VSP orders where contact lenses are recorded as nonelective, an
eyewear prescription is required to demonstrate that contact lenses are
medically necessary. A pop-up window will open when the order is
recorded. Any existing eyewear prescriptions will populate the pop-up
window, and you can edit or record a new prescription as needed.
• For VSP contact lens orders that were not associated with an exam, and for
which you select Initial Supply or Initial and Additional from the Reason
drop-down menu, the CLCP Additional Info window opens when you record
the contact lens order. The CLCP window allows you to select an exam code
