6.2.3 Loads<br />

This section describes the details <strong>of</strong> the loads present in the laboratory system.<br />

Data:<br />

The sum <strong>of</strong> the three loads must be smaller than the total output <strong>of</strong> the microsources, so that they<br />

can be supplied also in isl<strong>and</strong> mode. All loads are wye connected. Load L1 is made <strong>of</strong> two loads<br />

in parallel, one <strong>of</strong> which has the center <strong>of</strong> the star connected to the neutral, while the remaining<br />

loads have the center <strong>of</strong> the star floating. All loads have rated voltage <strong>of</strong> 208V <strong>and</strong> their overall<br />

rating is about 20kW.<br />

Load L1 through L5:<br />

All loads are connected at star: load L1 has the center star connected to the fourth wire <strong>of</strong> the<br />

system (neutral cable), while loads L2 through L5 have a floating center star, <strong>and</strong> they can be<br />

connected <strong>and</strong> disconnected with a switch. Loads are identical to each other. The data for loads<br />

Since the loads are purely resistive, their reactive impedance is always zero.<br />
