WORKING GROUP: TRANSITION
Pupils consider that school does not develop enough the entrepreneurship and the social and
civic competencies.
79% consider that during the school time, they achieved the competencies needed for labour
market insertion. (34,5% totally agree, 44,6% partially agree) . Still, they consider that the
communication in foreign languages, ICT and entrepreneurship abilities were not enough
developed during the school time.
The most important competencies for labour market insertion, in the pupils’ opinion, are:
Communication in maternal language (5,9 points on a scale with 8 points).
Foreign language competencies
ICT competencies
Mathematical, science and technology competencies
Entrepreneurship competency
Learning to learn competencies
Social and civic competencies. (3.6 points)
Opening at new cultures and artistic creativity (3.2).
Slovakia
Employers emphasize especially the importance of practice and theoretical knowledge
relevant to their practical needs. Qualified workers are missing above all in automotive
industry, engineering and other industries.
Key competences are defined differently in different materials but what is common to all of
them are communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, creative and critical
thinking, ability to learn a manage one’s own education, usage of ICT. [Ref. 15]

As a consequence of what we have said in the previous question, the employees must be well
trained and motivated and as well they must be qualified to manage projects, showing a
receptive attitude to the changing needs of the market. And also they must have a
predisposition to geographic mobility.
Regarding the business politics mentioned in the previous question, the employees of the
enterprises of the XXI century must have a professional profile with two basic characteristics:
Proactivity and work as a team. These two characteristics will allow them to deal with the
needs of the markets which are more and more wide and exigent.
