Fred Brisson Drops Two From His Filming Slate HOLLY'WOOD—Plans for filming two properties, one of them coauthored by his wife Rosalind Russell, have been dropped by Frederick Brisson. but he still has 14 active production projects. "The Loving Couple," penned by Patrick Dennis, and an untitled western written by Larry Marcus and Miss Russell, were dropped due to i conflicts on Brisson's feature and legiti- : mate slates caused by recent strikes of film writers and actors as well as Equity. On Brisson's feature schedule is "The Clubwoman," being scripted by Edward Chodorov, and Marcus' "King of Diamonds," to be lensed in Africa. Also active is a long-planned biographical film of Coco Chanel, famed dress designer. James Burkett Is Manager Of Alpha Distributing Corp. " LOS ANGELES—James S. "Sam Burkett has been appointed general manager of Alpha Distributing Corp., it was announced last weekend by Gordon K. Greenfield, president of America Corp.. Alpha's parent company. Alpha is the firm set up recently to take care of distribution of some 12 annual features planned as a producer-directorstar-script deal by Pathe Laboratories, of which urkett is sales manager. Roach and Case Join Again HOLLYWOOD—Hal Roach jr. and Carrol Case have formed Showcase Enterprises for the production of theatrical features and television series.
