1. to reproduce a written work to the extent of the whole book, if such work is out of print for a<br />
minimum of two years;<br />
2. to reproduce a graphic edition of musical work by means of handwritten transcription.<br />
Article 51<br />
Quotations<br />
(1) It shall be permissible to make quotations of parts of a disclosed work and of single<br />
disclosed photographs, works of fine arts, architecture, applied art, industrial design and<br />
cartography, provided it is necessary for the purpose of illustration, argumentation or referral.<br />
(2) In cases stated in the foregoing paragraph, the source and authorship of the work must be<br />
indicated, if the latter is indicated on the work used.<br />
Article 52<br />
Accessory works of secondary importance<br />
Such disclosed works that may be regarded as accessory works of secondary importance<br />
with regard to the actual purpose of some material object, may be used freely while exploiting<br />
such object.<br />

Free transformations<br />
Transformation of a disclosed work is permissible:<br />
1. if it is a private or other internal transformation, which is not intended for, and not available<br />
to the public;<br />
2. if the work is transformed into a parody or caricature, provided this does not, or is not likely<br />
to, create confusion as to the source of the work;<br />
3. if the transformation is dictated by the purpose of the permitted use;<br />
4. if the transformation is done in connection with permitted use and the author's objection to<br />
such transformation is unreasonable or in bad faith.<br />
Article 53a<br />
Databases<br />
(1) A lawful user of a disclosed database or of a copy thereof may freely reproduce or alter<br />
that database, if this is necessary for the purposes of access to its contents and the normal<br />
use of those contents. Where the user is authorized only to a part of the database, this<br />
provision shall apply only to that part.
