CP SAYS:
Having already been impressed with the bike when
tested in TAG a few issues back, I have little to add
really. The new-world rally car colour scheme brings
to mind the lines of the original Peugeot best seller,
the Speedfight, and this may well help boost sales of
this new model as the plain paintwork of the original
test machine didn’t show these lines so well.
It isn’t really fair to compare it to its forebears,
the new C-Tech is a far higher specification machine
than the Speedfight ever could be, with some
fantastic design work going into getting the chassis
right from the outset. It doesn’t have that gimmicky
leading link front end, rather a more conventional
fork set-up that works more efficiently than the
flimsy set-up seen previously.
Riding it among so many similar capacity
machines highlights even further the superb ride
you get with the Peugeot. The beam frame is a
sturdy beast and the attaching of the rear
suspension unit at the midpoint along the chassis
goes some way to centralising the weight although,
nothing like as well as the new Derbi does this.
Even so, the C-Tech is a great handler, perhaps the
best, although, it would take a racetrack, and a
stopwatch, to prove this for certain.
Few scoots in this test boast the good manners
and accurate handling of the WRC and it challenges
for top honours in almost every respect – if only it
was a few seconds quicker off the mark. Of all the
scoots, the C-Tech is as futuristic and stylish looking
as anything else out there at the present time, while
the build quality and finish is typically superb.
