THANKS TO: London Scooters for
the plastics and parts
The project thus far has cost about two
and half grand and that’s including the
bike, not bad going. Engine-wise it’s been
fitted with the usual Malossi stuff: a 172cc
cylinder kit and Malossi crank. Carburation
has been improved with a Dell’Orto 25mm
carb plus a Malossi open air filter, reed
block and petals. A Malossi CDI has been
fitted to improve the ignition and the
transmission once again comprises of the
usual Malossi gear (variator, clutch, drive
belt and rollers). The sports exhaust seen
fitted at our photo shoot was a PM55 from
PM Tuning, although the standard pipe
could be seen fitted to Paul’s bike when he
turned up later for some stuntin’ down at
the Ace Cafe (arguably the most popular
auto scooter spot in town). Performancewise
Paul reckons his scoot will do
100mph and will cruise quite happily at a
steady 80mph. Just remember that the
lad’s still on L-plates…
YOUNG OFFENDER
Other bikes Paul has owned include a
Piaggio NRG when he was 16, but
rumour has it he got six points for riding
that without a licence and no insurance
“etc,” he says. Let’s hope he’s learned
his lesson. Going on the apparent
lawlessness taking place down at the
Ace though I think the guy’s a bit of a
nutter... Was that another cop car I saw
chasing after him? As it happens the
lad’s just received another five points for
riding with undue care and attention
(wheelying). The guy’s a hooligan. Paul’s
favourite scootering experiences have
Police approved number plate eh? Hmm…
been down at the Ace he says. I guess
the place just seems to attract this kind,
especially on T n G Sundays. The
chaos… Perhaps the best place for
riders like Paul is off-road? As it
happens he does do a bit of motocross
from time to time when he’s not
watching Moto GP. I guess the lad’s got
to get it all out of his system somehow.
The speeding, the fines, the wheelies,
the Martinis... All Paul’s got to watch out
for now is his scoot being nicked.
Desirable it is too... “Bartender! A dry
Martini... Shaken and not stirred.”
