Fuel System<br />

Check Fuel Hose, Rail, and Connections<br />

Inspect the fuel hoses for cracks or damage. Inspect the hose connection at the fuel tank and at the fuel rail for<br />

dampness or stains from leaking or dried fuel.<br />

Check Crankcase Ventilation Hose and Connections<br />

Remove the operators seat and fuel tank. Inspect the crankcase ventilation hose for cracks or damage. Inspect<br />

the hose connection at the air cleaner and at the crankcase for dampness or stains from leaking.<br />

Evaporative Emission Control System<br />

(California models only)<br />

Visually inspect all evaporative emission control system hoses and connections. Make sure all connections are<br />

tight. Also, inspect the evaporative canister to make sure it has not been damaged.<br />

Fuel Tank<br />

1. To remove the fuel tank, remove the operator’s seat.<br />

2. Remove the front and rear fuel tank mounting screws.<br />

3. Unplug the fuel level sensor and fuel pump wire harness.<br />

4. Wrap a clean rag around the fuel rail bleed valve and relieve the fuel line pressure by depressing the<br />

center of the bleed valve.<br />

Caution<br />

Fuel can damage painted surfaces and plastic parts. Wipe spilled fuel immediately from the motorcycle<br />

using a clean, dry, soft cloth.<br />
