5. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head with a<br />

spark plug socket.<br />

Both spark plugs should have the same light or<br />

medium tan color deposits on the insulator around the<br />

electrode tip. The spark plug electrode tip and bridge<br />

should have sharp, square edges.<br />

If spark plugs are in good condition and are not due for<br />

replacement, you can clean them with a stiff bristle<br />

brush, set the gap and reinstall them.<br />

Replace spark plugs (NGK CR7EB or equivalent) at the recommended intervals. Always replace<br />

spark plugs in pairs.<br />

6. Set the electrode gap with a spark plug gauge.<br />

Gap: 0.032 inch (0.8 mm)<br />

7. Clean the mating surface on the cylinder head and install the spark plug with a spark plug socket.<br />

Torque: 8 ft -lbs (11 Nm)<br />

8. Reconnect both spark plug wires.<br />

9. Reinstall and tighten the front and rear fuel tank<br />

screws.<br />

Torque: 20 ft -lbs (27 Nm)<br />

10. Reinstall the operator’s seat.<br />
