Clutch<br />

Check Clutch Lever and Cable<br />

1. Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and<br />

release it. It should move freely and smoothly and<br />

should return to its rest position quickly when released.<br />

2. Clutch freeplay - the amount of clutch lever movement<br />

from the rest position to the point of cable resistance -<br />

should be between 0.04 -0.08 inch (1 -2 mm). Measure<br />

the gap between the clutch lever and the lever housing.<br />

3. Adjust clutch freeplay if necessary (see page 91).<br />

Lubricate Clutch Lever<br />

1. Remove the operator’s seat.<br />

2. Remove the front and rear fuel tank screws.<br />

3. Raise the rear of the fuel tank high enough to expose the clutch cable. Support the rear of the fuel<br />

tank with a block of wood.<br />

4. Slide the rubber cover off the cable adjuster, and loosen the adjuster jam nut.<br />

5. Turn the cable adjuster all the way in.<br />

6. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch lever.<br />

7. Remove clutch lever pivot nut and screw.<br />

8. Remove any old grease and dirt from the clutch lever and lever housing.<br />

9. Lubricate the clutch lever and lever pivot screw with Victory All Purpose Grease or equivalent.<br />
