Do not reuse a cotter pin because it may fail, allowing the wheel to loosen and you to lose control of<br />

the motorcycle.<br />

6. Pump rear brake several times to reset brake pad distance.<br />

Align Rear Wheel<br />

This procedure involves using the rear wheel alignment tool, part no. PV -43528, which is designed<br />

specifically for aligning the rear wheel. Do not rely on the rear axle reference marks for wheel alignment.<br />

WARNING<br />

A skewed rear axle can damage the drive belt, causing it to fail and you to lose control of the<br />

motorcycle.<br />

1. Bring the motorcycle to a vertical position with an appropriate motorcycle lift or a block of wood or<br />

steel placed securely under the frame.<br />

2. Remove the swing arm pivot caps and install the rear wheel alignment tool on the right side of the<br />

motorcycle.<br />

3. Measure and record the distance from the tip of the alignment tool to the center of the rear axle.<br />

4. Install the rear wheel alignment tool on the left side of the motorcycle.<br />

5. Measure and record the distance from the base of the alignment tool to the center of the rear axle. The<br />

right side measurement and the left side measurement must be identical.
