Cleaning and Storage<br />
Maintaining During Storage<br />
Check and maintain normal tire pressure and battery voltage during storage.<br />
Removing from Storage<br />
1. Remove the cover and unlock the front forks.<br />
2. Check the tire pressure and inflate the tires if necessary.<br />
3. Reinstall the battery (see “Install Battery” page 107).<br />
4. Wash and dry the entire motorcycle (see “Washing and Drying” page 116).<br />
5. Prior to starting the engine, change the engine oil and filter (see “Change Engine Oil and Oil Filter”<br />
page 74, beginning with step 2).<br />
Caution<br />
During storage, temperature and humidity changes can cause condensation to form in the crankcase and<br />
mix with engine oil. Running the engine with oil that contains condensation can cause engine damage.<br />
6. Wax, polish, or apply protectant to the appropriate motorcycle components (see “Waxing, Polishing,<br />
and Applying Protectants” page 118).<br />
7. Perform the pre -operation check described in Pre -Operation Check, page 45.<br />
8. Test ride the motorcycle before returning it to regular use (see “Road Test” page 113).<br />
