Getting to the Region
near Innamincka this could become an attractive alternative outback route. Buses from
Adelaide could travel through the Flinders Ranges to Arkaroola and then by the Old
Strezlecki track to Innamincka travelling onto Brisbane or doing a loop to Birdsville
depending on interest. (see suggested itinerary and Map Three on the following pages)
Alternatively, one tour company could provide the Adelaide-Innamincka – Adelaide leg
while another provided the Brisbane-Innamincka-Brisbane leg of the tour. It is recognised
that it takes 2 to 3 years to build international interest in a new tour product. However, there
maybe other domestic markets that could be encouraged to kick start this route.

Action Thirty Two: Identify appropriate tour operators and accommodation product and
explore the development of an itinerary for a Brisbane-Innamincka- Adelaide Coach tour
with stopovers in the Flinders Ranges.
8.4 Transport within the Region
Since the Stateliner bus ceased regular services to the Flinders Ranges access for
independent travellers has been very difficult. Banksia Adventure Tours has responded with
a hop on/hop off tour but this has had little take up by the operators in the region who could
link this service into their tour packages.
The operators at Angorichina Village have sought approval from the Department of
Transport, Energy and Infrastructure – Road Transport Division to operate a registered bus
service. This service would enable connections with bus and air transport services in Port
Augusta and provide links to Wilpena, Blinman, Rawnsley Park, Arkaroola and other
destinations in the Flinders Ranges. A similar service would assist the development of cycle
tourism in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
